Losing in Sport, Losing in Election

Losing in both areas of my life have taught me a lot of valuable lessons. Of course, no one wins all the time so it is important to accept failures. Losing doesn't mean the end of the world and you will recover from these downfalls as a stronger person. So here is my anecdote:
Losing in Sport
Tennis is my main sport. Losing in this case doesn't mean losing in a match or tournament. This time, I lose my spot on the varsity tennis team. My initial reactions are frustration and sadness. Then I realize why I was cut. I came to preseason approximately 5 days before school start, expecting an automatic spot on the varsity team I abandon the possibility that the coach might cut me if I'm not good enough this year. I forgot the fact that I was the spare player, so the chance of me being cut is high if there were good people coming this year. Indeed, four amazingly freshman came to try out for the valuable spots. They played outstandingly well that the coach had no choice but to cut me. During the try out period, I continuously lose to almost every player. Therefore, I moved down to play for the Junior Varsity team.

Losing in Election
One of my goal for Junior year is becoming the house's Social Rep. Every year, each dormitory has one representative who is responsible for organizing social events with other houses such as invite-a-house and invite-a-friend. Moreover, each house has its own special school-wide event. For my house, McClellan, we would organize a social event known as the McLovin Dance around Valentine season. I was inspired to assume this position in the house since Sophomore year and started constructing my platform during the summer. However, upon giving my speech against other competitors, I realize that I would lose. Other candidates' platforms revolve around improving invite-a-house and invite-a-friend, while mine is concerned with birthday card makings and other unfamiliar social activities. I was disappointed upon knowing the result of the election but I also feel happy for the person who got the position as her personality would suits the job well.

At the end of the day, I learn that you don't get everything you want and not everything suits who you are. I am glad that I get to experience these things earlier on in life so I can continue developing into a better version of myself.
